We finally had

Our meeting to get the ball started to see if we can get wyatt into special education next year. For the next few weeks he will have some testing done to see if they can find the answer to why he has the issues he does.
In kindergarten he started speech therapy, something we always knew he would need. Wyatt had and still does have a long list of letter sounds he just can't pronounce. This of course brings out more issues now that he's in first grade because let's face it, if you don't figure that in certain situations the letter C can make the K sound or even the S sound or even be silent well than you would pronounce the word school like skhool, the word can you would spell as kan and certain would now be spelled sertain.
Anyways at grade level this late in the year he should know 120 sight words (that's average) when looking at the sight words wyatt only knows 33 of them, and reading wise he should be at a 13/14 but he is only at a 5/6.
His eyes and ears have both been tested and are perfect so that's good.. Now we just need to see if we can figure out why he's having trouble and go from there.
And you know to be completely honest I'm thrilled with the idea that they have the help for the kids that need it.
And I'm also oh so proud that his speech teacher is as thrilled with the progress he has made since he first started speech because we are as well. He still has a way to go but his progress since even just the begining of this year is something to celebrate!
So that's the update on that. We should be finding out the results of this new testing in a few weeks and have a plan in place for next year before the end of school this year.
