clydes mystery rash update

first of all i want to say that i LOVE our vet! she is awesome..
we took clyde in to the vet on Tuesday (yeah a late update *sorry*) for his mystery rash that appeared the week before .. tuesday was the earliest the vet could get us in and it just being a rash, it wasnt a rush think.. we were told to bath him daily until the appointment and thats what i was doing.
anyways, we get into the vet and clyde is his normal happy self.. he met a small bulldog who got super excited as well and puked all over the floor (poor pup) according to the vet the bulldog does it all the time so it wasnt clyde induced (nice to know).
first thing first, get clyde on the scale, i swear he is part woman because he refuses to know his weight, the scale is always a war and no help when the vet assistance come out to say *hello* to my puppy.. the assistant than took her place behind the partial wall so we could get our clyde on the scale, his weight 130 pounds 4 ounces.. can we say MOOSE? and still more growing to go!! not to mention he is all muscle and no fat!
after that we got him into the exam room where he didnt want to lay down (they of course do his exams on the floor as the table yeah not going there).. the vet was finally able to get a look at his rash and turns out the mystery rash was hives!
from how the hives looked its a bite probably spider bite induced hives, so she gave him a shot to clear it up..
she also said that we need to keep benadryl on hand for him because once he has the hives chances are he will get them again and if we catch it in the first few hours we can control it with benadryl.. a higher does than a person would take and ever 8-12 hours.
we did discuss with her shampoos because the dry skin is back (hes back on his fish oil pills for that) and she told us to keep him on them for good.. fish oil will keep the oils in his skin good.. but she said shampoo wise to go threw this online store where we can get oatmeal based soap free shampoo for a real good price ($24.00 for a gallon of it) so we are going to order that.
she said the normal *stuff that adds moisture etc will only last at most an hour* which is the same as flea shampoos etc..
anyways, our big boy is on the mend and his rash is slowly going away, she said we would see it go away opposite of how it came in.. so now we just are keeping and eye on him.
